WBGC Wins National Program Award

On May 19th, Club Executive Director Nita Smith and Operations Director Meghan Sweet were on hand at the Boys & Girls Club National Conference in Orlando to receive the prestigious Honor Award for Program Excellence.  WBGC was recognized for its superior achievement in serving youth with special needs, through its BLAST (Being Leaders and Sharing Talents) program initiatives.  For the past five years, the Club has placed a special emphasis on promoting an inclusion policy that offers success and opportunity for all members, including those with special needs.  WBGC currently serves youth with challenges including Downs Syndrome, Asperger's, Autism, mobility issues, and more.  The Honor Award is the highest award available for Boys & Girls Club programs; out of more than 4,000 clubs nationwide, only five awards are given each year.
