B.F. DAY SITE STAFF BIOGRAPHIES |
 |
Miles Thomas,
Childcare Director,
mthomas@positiveplace.org
Miles Thomas first began
working as a program lead for Wallingford Boys & Girls Club in 2006, was
named the temporary director of the View Ridge site in 2007, and became the
director of the B.F. Day site in June 2008. His first job in high
school was working as a counselor for the afterschool program at the
community center in his hometown of Tumwater, WA. Miles has no
brothers or sisters but enjoys being around kids and people. He ended up
working at the community center for four years. Miles was also a summer camp
counselor for the local state-run program. He eventually left the community
center to focus on his studies at The Evergreen State College. Some
highlights of his education include extensive study in computer science,
linguistics and education. After some interesting adventures in job hunting,
he ended up working as a summer counselor again, but this time it was for
WBGC. Now that he is working as a director he says that he never would have
guessed that would happen back when he first started working with youth, but
he is glad that it worked out that way! |

Eric Kirby,
Assistant Childcare Coordinator,
ekirby@positiveplace.org
Eric Kirby has been with
B.F. Day Boys & Girls Club for a year and a half. Prior to working for the
Club, Eric held jobs as varied as laborer, record store owner and bank
manager. Until he started at the Club, Eric hadn’t found a job that ‘fit’
as well. Eric grew up in a family of twelve siblings and, with 26 nieces
and nephews, has been around kids since he was one himself. He loves
working with the kids, and seeing their excitement about activities and
field trips that he has planned is his favorite part of the job. Outside of
the club, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife, two boys and other family
and friends; excessive amounts of photography; travel to just about
anywhere; cooking things that he’s never tried before; and reading.
