Operations Director Meghan Sweet Named 2007 McCabe Fellow

Operations Director Meghan Sweet was awarded a 2007 McCabe Fellowship by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  The prestigious award is very competitive and was given to only five professionals in the 9-state Western Region. Meghan was the only person in Washington state to be named a fellow this year.

The McCabe program honors Club professionals who have shown tremendous growth and commitment in their careers.  The ultimate goal of the program is to train graduates to become Chief Professional Officers within the Boys & Girls Club movement.  To achieve this goal, Meghan will go through an intensive 360-degree review process over the next two years in order to increase her professional skills.  She has also been paired with a mentor from within the Boys & Girls Club movement - Corey Dantzler, who heads the Challengers Boys & Girls Club in Southcentral Los Angeles.  Corey and Meghan will meet several times each year in order to discuss her professional development.

Meghan, who grew up attending a Boys & Girls Club in California, has worked for Wallingford Boys & Girls Club since the day after she graduated college in June 1999.  She has been the administrative assistant, education director, program director, unit director, and now, operations director.  During that time, she has been awarded numerous honors, including becoming a member of the Boys & Girls Club of America Academy, later being inducted at the Professional Level, and she was named the Outstanding Youth Development Professional of the Year for the Pacific Northwest Region in 2004.  She completed the BGCA Middle Managers Training track program in 2003, and attended the Boys & Girls Club leadership program at Clemson University in 2005.  More recently, she wrote two national program merit awards on behalf of WBGC, in 2005 and 2006, and helped the Club win the prestigious National Honor Award for Program Excellence in 2007.
