Stacy Kain,
Childcare Director,
skain@positiveplace.org Stacy
Kain graduated from Washington State University in May 2005 with a double BA
in Psychology and Gender Studies. Following graduation, Stacy joined
the US Peace Corps and eventually moved to Kenya in May 2006. She was
assigned to the Ministry of Health as a Public Health Volunteer in Ithanga,
Central Province. Stacy regularly attended Ministry of
Health-sponsored events. Such events included door-to-door polio
vaccinations, mosquito net distribution, World AIDS Day, and quarterly
health camps where patients were treated for common illnesses. She
also successfully created lesson plans and facilitated classes at her local
primary and vocational schools. For three school terms, Stacy acted as
a weekly instructor to six classes and educated 357 students on subjects
related to public health. Her passion was the youth empowerment camps
that she planned and executed for the young men and women of Kenya.
Stacy's time in Kenya was cut short due to political and civil unrest.
She returned to the United States in February 2008, moved to Seattle, and
became the assistant director at the View Ridge Boys & Girls Club in March.
In September 2009, Stacy was promoted to director of the View Ridge Club.
Stacy loves working with youth and looks forward to going to work every day! |
